Department of English Education

The Department of English Education at Andong National University was founded in 1980. Since then, more than 550 students have completed our course of study. The department has consistently provided a well-rounded curriculum for Korea’s middle and high school English language teachers. In your four years here, you will learn both about teaching methodologies as well as English language and English-speaking countries’ cultures. Our Korean professors boast over 100 years of combined experience and are experts in the fields of teaching methodology, linguistics, phonetics, English literature poetry, drama, and cinema; our native teachers are professionally competent, well-rounded human beings who have the future of Korea’s English-speaking students at heart. Our professors will provide you with a first-class education that will give you the knowledge and skills needed to pass the national teacher’s exam at the end of your coursework. In addition, during your time here you can participate in many English language extra-curricular activities such as the campus newspaper, drama club, pop song singing club, English discussion group, and other annual events organized by the department. Our graduates go on to use their proficient English language skills as certified public school teachers, teacher’s assistants, and other English language- and teaching-oriented professionals.
