Introduction of Department

Chinese is the language spoken by the largest number of people in the world. Korea and China are geographically close in proximity and have many cultural and historical similarities. Since beginning its trading relations with China, Korea has had a tendency to develop a more cooperative relationship with China in the fields of politics, economics, sociology, science, culture, as well as many other fields. The goal of the department is to teach all aspects of Chinese culture and the standard Chinese language to the students in order to produce professionals with native-level Chinese proficiency because China has grown to become a player of the world economy. Studying the long history of China and its culture can provide students with a new understanding and outlook. After graduation, many students have taken leading roles in various fields as teachers, translators, interpreters, broadcasters, import/export company employees, journalists, academics, political administrators, as well as other industries.
